Match Analysis – 04/14/2026 11:00 AM ET
Washington Nationals @ Pittsburgh Pirates | Under 9.5 (-115)
Even after Pittsburgh’s offensive explosion on Monday, this matchup profiles as a completely different type of game. Mitch Keller has been outstanding to open the season, commanding the zone and limiting damage every time he takes the mound. His outings tend to slow the pace and suppress scoring. Miles Mikolas has struggled badly in 2026, but his track record against the Pirates is strong, and his pitch‑to‑contact style often plays well in a park like PNC, where deep fly balls die in the outfield. Washington’s offense remains inconsistent, and Pittsburgh is unlikely to replicate a 10‑run inning two nights in a row. With a strong starter on one side, a bounce‑back candidate on the other, and a ballpark that naturally favors pitchers, this total sits a bit too high.
San Francisco Giants @ Cincinnati Reds | San Francisco Giants ML (-105)
This matchup tilts heavily toward San Francisco because of one simple factor: the pitching gap is massive. Robbie Ray has been locked in to start the season, carving through lineups and giving the Giants a chance to win every time he takes the ball. His command, swing‑and‑miss stuff and veteran presence travel well — even to a hitter‑friendly park like Great American Ball Park. Brady Singer, on the other hand, has been in survival mode. He’s been hit hard in every outing, giving up loud contact, crooked innings and showing little sign of stabilizing. His history against the Giants isn’t encouraging either, and Cincinnati’s recent home form only adds to the concern. With the superior starter, the more reliable bullpen and a team that tends to play cleaner baseball in tight, low‑scoring environments, San Francisco holds the edge at a very playable price.
Chicago Cubs @ Philadelphia Phillies | Philadelphia Phillies ML (-143)
This game leans heavily toward Philadelphia, and it starts on the mound. Aaron Nola has been sharp to open the season, mixing command with efficiency and giving the Phillies quality innings every time out. Even when he slips — like the Devers homer last week — he’s still controlling games deep into the sixth. Chicago, meanwhile, is piecing things together with an opener followed by Colin Rea. Rea competes, but he doesn’t miss bats, and that’s a dangerous profile against a Phillies lineup that just hung 13 runs on this same pitching staff. Add in the Cubs’ injury‑thinned rotation and a bullpen that’s already stretched, and the matchup becomes even more lopsided. Philadelphia have the better starter, the deeper offense and the more stable roster. At home, with Nola on the hill, they’re the side you trust.
Seattle Mariners @ San Diego Padres | Seattle Mariners ML (-121)
Seattle walk into this series with the one thing that matters most on the road: the better starter. Bryan Woo has been outstanding to open the year, and his track record against San Diego is nearly flawless. He attacks the zone, limits walks and forces hitters into uncomfortable counts — exactly the formula you want against a Padres lineup that just feasted on soft Colorado pitching. Michael King is solid, but he’s not the type of arm that shuts down a lineup that’s finally heating up. The Mariners just dropped 29 runs on Houston, and with Naylor rediscovering his swing, their offense suddenly looks dangerous again. Add in Seattle’s stronger bullpen and Woo’s dominance in this matchup, and the edge leans clearly toward the Mariners at this price.
Texas Rangers @ Oakland Athletics | Athletics ML (-101)
This matchup comes down to which starter you trust more, and right now Jeffrey Springs is pitching like one of the toughest lefties in the American League. He’s allowed almost nothing through three starts, carried a no‑hitter into the seventh against the Yankees, and has been in complete command every time he’s taken the mound. MacKenzie Gore has electric stuff, but his history against Oakland is a major red flag — the A’s have hit him hard, and several hitters in this lineup see him extremely well. When a pitcher repeatedly struggles against a specific roster, it usually isn’t random. Oakland were flat in the opener, but they’d won five straight before that and now send their best arm to the mound. With Springs dealing, a favorable matchup profile and home field behind them, the A’s are the sharper side at essentially even money.
